Rose Colored Glass, a play that “shows the beginning of the Holocaust from our side of the ocean,” opens Friday May 6th at Golden’s Miners Alley Playhouse,
just 2 blocks from our inn. It runs through June 19th.

The setting is 1938 Chicago, and the action takes place in the back rooms of two businesses separated by an alley: Lady O’Riley’s pub and Rose Fleischman’s deli. These “two mistrustful widows” are played by Paige L. Larson and Billie McBride, two incredible local actors. Lady’s 13-year-old granddaughter, Peg, is determined to make these women into friends, but what finally creates that friendship is when they embrace the cause of one boy’s safe passage from Europe to America. You can view the online playbill here.

Miners Alley’s productions are always top-notch. If you’re going to be in Golden on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday between May 6th and June 19th, we recommend that you make a night at the theater part of your plans. Tickets can be ordered from the online box office.

The Internet is a wonderful place in so many ways. It makes
planning travel so much easier. It makes communicating with our guests so much easier. But when it doesn’t work right, it just makes me crazy.

A short time ago, we decided to switch web hosts for our Dove Inn B&B website. We chose a new host, InMotion Hosting, and got our
account all set up. Our Webmistress, Carol, got all the files in place on the new server. We pointed our domain to the new server, and everything worked just like it was supposed to.

Except that the Innkeeper’s Blog, which I was doing in Google Blogger, disappeared from the face of the earth.

After much tribulation and frustration, I decided the best solution was to learn WordPress and just get the blog going again. I may keep trying to import earlier posts, but I’ve had no luck so far. “Forget the past and look to the future” is my blogging motto today!
